Sault College Aviation

Considered one of the best flight schools in Canada, Sault College’s Aviation Technology – Flight program prepares students for an exhilarating career as a professional pilot with positions available around the globe. Graduates of the program who meet qualification criteria established by Transport Canada will have successfully completed the requirements for the Integrated Commercial Pilot License Aeroplane, including the multi-engine instrument rating (CPL(A)IR). This license meets all the requirements for students to be a commercial pilot. Students gain hands-on training with an impressive fleet of aircraft, including eleven Zlin and two Piper Seminole air planes, complemented by three state-of-the-art flight simulators that provide a realistic experience which closely replicates flying in a College airplane. Each aircraft includes advanced radio navigation and real-time aircraft tracking systems.

JD Aero Technical is a Transport Canada Approved Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO-48-07) with FAA and Myanmar approvals offering a full range of aircraft services to the regional commuter market. We specialize in the Dash 8 and CRJ series aircraft, providing services to airlines and operators world-wide.

Our modern and up to date facilities at the Sault Ste Marie Airport include two large bay hangars totaling over 60,000 square feet, offering aircraft, structures and avionics repair capabilities and FBO services.

Ministry of Natural Resources

The Aviation, Forest Fire, and Emergency Services of the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) provides emergency management services in support of forest fires, floods, and other natural hazards as well as support for natural resources management across Ontario. From its facility located at the Sault Ste. Marie Airport, Aviation Services Section provides aviation flight and maintenance crews, equipment, and other specialized aviation services, including non-scheduled air transport to all government ministries and agencies. The 5700-square-metre facility is home to a fleet of aircraft that includes; CL-415 Water Bomber, DHC-6 Twin Otter, DHC-2T Turbo Beaver and B350 King Air aircraft. The modern hangar is able to accommodate multiple aircraft at once for repairs, maintenance, and storage.  MNRF Administrators, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, Warehouse Personnel, and Pilots comprise a group of 60 full-time staff that work throughout the facility. In addition to the hangar and office space, there is a 622-square-metre flight training facility that includes a state of the art training simulator for the CL-415 Water Bomber. The simulator provides a complete simulation of the aircraft including water scooping on lakes and drops on fires. It is the first of its kind in Ontario.

Humphrey Aircraft Services

Humphrey Aircraft Services offers aircraft maintenance and repair services in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and serves the general aviation community in northern Ontario and northern Michigan. It is equipped to work with seaplanes, skiplanes, and wheel-based aircraft.

Humphrey Aircraft Services has extensive experience in maintenance and structural repairs on aircraft from the medium transport size (e.g. HS 748) down to small single-engine aircraft. It is a Transport Canada-approved Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO 52-93), which covers welding as well. Humphrey Aircraft Services also has facilities to carry out complete refinishing on smaller aircraft.
