Helpful Tips

A few helpful tips can go a long way to help you be prepared to fly. Keep these key reminders top of mind the next time you move through the Sault Ste. Marie Airport and you will be ready to easily navigate changes at the airport.

Be sure to arrive with plenty of time prior to your scheduled departure. With the increase in travel, this is a busy time at the Sault Ste. Marie Airport, so you’ll likely encounter higher passenger volumes at peak times. Give yourself plenty of time to get to the airport and through screening. You should arrive at the airport two hours before a domestic flight.

Our terminal is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, with onsite security present at all times.

Checking in before you get to the Sault Ste. Marie Airport takes another step out of your next trip. Our carriers offer online check-in for your convenience.

Be Aware of Entry Requirements

If you plan to travel outside of the province or country, additional documentation may be required to enter your destination. It is recommended you check with your airline to be sure you understand all requirements for your itinerary.

Know What You Can Pack

Learn what you can and can’t pack in your carry-on by visiting CATSA’s website. Also, don’t forget to weigh and measure your bags before leaving home to ensure it meets your airline’s luggage policies. By packing right, you’ll shorten your time at check-in counters and pre-board security screening checkpoints and reduce your risk of having to leave items behind.

Lost, delayed or damaged baggage

If your baggage is lost, delayed or damaged during your flight, contact your airline for help.

Visit Hogan's Homestead Local Gift Shop & Café

Visit Hogan’s Homestead Sweetly Mini Gift Shop and Café in the airport terminal during your next trip through the airport. Please visit our Food and Beverage page for more information.

Hand Sanitizer Stations

Hand Sanitizer stations are located throughout the terminal for encouraged traveler use at each stage of the travelling experience.

Plan Your Parking

For passenger convenience, there are two parking lots available. Please note that if you are picking up a travelling passenger you must park in the Short Term parking lot. Parking is not permitted in front of the terminal building. To enter either parking lot, passengers must take a bar coded ticket upon entry. The gated system will allow travellers to pay by cash or debit/credit card at the pay station in the terminal building which is located adjacent to the security office, or by debit or credit card at the exit gates. Tap is available at the pay station and the exit gates. The bar coded ticket must be used to exit either lot. Both lots are well lit and randomly patrolled 24 hours a day.

Visit our Parking Page for information on rates, parking instructions, a map and more.

Be Kind

Remember: the travel experience has changed and processes may take longer. Please be patient with our airport staff as they work to get you on your way.

Visit your airline’s website to learn what is required and how you can prepare for your next flight.
