Snowbirds amaze our neighbours across the river

Residents and tourists in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan lined the St. Marys shoreline to watch the Canadian Forces Snowbirds perform over the river and the Twin Soo's on Saturday afternoon.

The non-aerobatic display started around 2 p.m. under partly cloudy skies and lasted just under a half hour.

The Canadian Forces (CF) Snowbirds, 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, are a Canadian icon comprised of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members and National Defence Public Service employees.

Linda Hoath, executive director of the Sault Area (MI) Convention and Visitors Bureau, was one of dozens at the grassy knoll near the Museum Ship Valley Camp to watch the event..

"We worked with the Sault Ontario Tourism and they were absolutely fabulous. We worked on helping them getting information out about the event on our side. To include us over here was great. They flew right over us. It was so cool," Hoath said.

Seamus Strahan was also watching the event near the Valley Camp with his family. The 12-year-old loves airplanes. This is the first event of its kind for him to watch.

"It was very exciting. I don't get to see planes this close up. The beginning of the show when the F-18 flew by was the best because it was the loudest," Strahan said.
